Conditions of Carriage
Last updated: July 2026
These Conditions of Carriage apply to every parcel we carry, alongside our Terms of Service; where they differ on carriage, these Conditions apply. Carriage is provided by PostAm Swift Networks Ltd (Nigeria) for shipments within and from Nigeria, and by Capefield Ltd (registered in England and Wales, company number 14103443) for shipments within and from the United Kingdom. “We”, “our”, and “us” mean whichever of these companies is carrying your parcel.
1. Packaging
You must pack each parcel securely enough for normal handling and transport; fragile items cushioned and clearly identified. We may refuse, or accept no liability for, inadequately packaged items.
2. Items We Cannot Carry
You must not send:
- cash, negotiable instruments and securities;
- dangerous goods (explosives, flammable liquids/gases, corrosives, toxic/radioactive materials, lithium batteries outside permitted limits);
- illegal drugs, weapons, ammunition, counterfeit goods;
- perishable or temperature-sensitive goods unless agreed in advance in writing;
- living creatures, human remains and body parts;
- anything prohibited to carry/import/export under the laws of Nigeria, the UK, or the destination country.
3. Accurate Declaration
You must describe contents and declare value accurately and completely; for international shipments provide accurate customs information. A false or incomplete declaration may lead to delay, seizure, penalties, or refusal, and may be a criminal offence. You are responsible for any loss, fine, or claim from an inaccurate declaration.
4. Customs, Duties and Taxes
International shipments are carried on a Delivered At Place (DAP) basis: destination customs duties, import taxes and levies are the recipient’s responsibility unless agreed otherwise in writing. Parcels may be inspected, held or seized by customs; where this is not our fault we are not liable for the resulting delay or loss.
5. Use of Other Carriers
To complete part of a journey (particularly international routes) we may hand your parcel to a third-party carrier or freight partner. Your parcel remains subject to these Conditions throughout, and we remain your point of contact.
6. Our Liability for Loss or Damage
If your parcel is lost or damaged while in our care, our liability is limited to the value you declared for it, up to a maximum of £100 (or ₦190,000) per parcel. PostAm does not provide insurance; if your parcel is worth more than this, we recommend arranging your own transit insurance before you send it. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss (loss of profit, opportunity, goodwill). Nothing limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
7. Making a Claim
Report loss or damage in writing to support@postamglobal.com within 14 days of the expected delivery date, with your tracking number and supporting evidence (photographs for damage). Keep the parcel and packaging until the claim is resolved. Claims made after 14 days may not be accepted.
8. Delivery Times and Delays
Delivery estimates are given in good faith but are not guaranteed. We are not liable for delays outside our reasonable control, including customs clearance, weather, carrier disruption, incorrect address details, or the recipient being unavailable.
9. Undeliverable Parcels
If a parcel cannot be delivered we will try to contact you to agree next steps. We may return, hold, or (after a reasonable period and further notice) dispose of undeliverable parcels, and reasonable additional costs may apply.
10. Governing Law
For shipments within and from Nigeria, these Conditions are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. For shipments within and from the United Kingdom, by the laws of England and Wales. This does not affect any mandatory consumer rights you have.
